AI Academy For parents and teachers

Teaching kids to work with AI

The AI Academy is a free, no-sign-up set of six short lessons for kids, built by a kid and his dad. Here's what it covers and how to use it well.

What kids learn

  • AI learns patterns from examples and can be confidently wrong
  • The difference between a chatbot and an AI agent that takes actions
  • How to write clear prompts: goal, details, example, ask for a plan
  • How to check AI output: verify facts, test code, look at the result
  • Safety: never share personal information or passwords, and use AI with a grown-up
  • A simple build loop: ask, plan, build, check, ship

How to use it

Sit together for one lesson at a time; each takes five to eight minutes. Read it aloud with younger kids, do the activity together, and let them answer the quiz. Wrong answers just mean try again.

After lesson 6, try a small real project together, like a simple Scratch game, with the AI helping to plan and explain while your child does the building.

Age rules for AI tools

Most AI assistants are made for adults or teens, and each one sets its own minimum age. Some require users to be 18, others allow teens with a parent's permission. Check the terms of the tool you plan to use. For younger kids, use AI together on a grown-up's account, with the grown-up in the driver's seat.

Conversation starters

  • "How could we check if that answer is true?"
  • "What would you tell the AI to make that better?"
  • "What should we never type into an AI?"
  • "Which part did you build, and which part did the AI do?"

Privacy on this site

No ads and no accounts. We count visits with Google Analytics set up the kid-safe way (no ad personalisation, no cross-device tracking, data deleted after two months). Lesson badges and the certificate name are stored only in the visitor's browser and never sent to us. Messages from the Say hi form go to a parent and are never published.
