Safety shields

The rules that keep you safe when you use AI. Finish the quick check to earn the Shield Keeper badge.

Mission goal

Use AI safely: protect your info, work with a grown-up and stay kind.

Keep secrets secret

Never type your full name, address, school, phone number or any password into an AI. And never put them on a website. Your first name is plenty.

Use AI with a grown-up

Most AI tools are made for adults or teens. Some say you must be 18, others need a parent's permission. Kids should use AI with a grown-up, on the grown-up's account and with their rules.

AI is a tool, not a friend

AI can be fun to talk to, but it's a program, not a person. If something is bothering you or a chat makes you feel weird, stop and talk to a grown-up you trust.

Be kind and be honest

  • Don't use AI to make mean jokes or fake pictures of real people
  • If AI helped you with schoolwork, say so (and check your teacher's rules)
  • Only post things you'd be happy for anyone to see
Activity

Try it: make your shield list

With a grown-up, write down three things you will never share with an AI or online, and one grown-up you'll ask before you publish anything. Stick it next to your computer.
